Very excited for all of the queens but oh Choriza May I’m so glad to see her back, I love Choriza and just want to bundle her in my pocket and carry her around with me everywhere.
Early opinions and so far my early favourites are all of my UK queens because we gotta rep the home team, but I am also loving Miss Hannah Conda and Marina Summers early doors.
Kicking the season of with the first maxi challenge and we had we a talent show with quite the variety of talents we were shown.
Mayhem Miller absolutely cracked me up because I loved the start of her zen moment and I couldn’t help but laugh when her performance went a bit awry.
I didn’t quite fully understand Arantxa’s performance her combination of sexual sofa shouting mixed with a masterclass in name pronunciation and sort of dream but that might just not be my humour.
Gothy Kendoll was so difficult for me because I really feel like she has a lot to give but her confidence sort of went limp and her personality was lost with a slightly stiff performance.
La Grande Dame, felt like taking a walk inside a house of horror with all of the layered sound work which was very clever but somehow very creepy like a fever dream.
Marina Summers was just wow I mean the song, the dancing, the vibes she brought it all and this fierce Latina means business because jaw dropping.
Hana Conda was a little belter with her comedy song, from her high class piano playing skills, to her fabulous dress Ru-veal, Hana is definitely one to watch as I think her abilities could go unnoticed by some of the queens who may write her off.
Scarlet Envy was interesting, I wasn’t 100% sure of the premise behind her live comedy lyrics as I thought it was a brave choice but she looked good and her mini backdrop was adorable with the chaise and vanity table.
Keta Minaj gave us creepy, kooky, musical gymnastics and honestly I didn’t hate it. It was giving fever dream vibes but I’ve had way worse dreams. Once the song kicked in thankfully the creepy vibes disappeared and out came this shiny gymnast. Honestly I have immense respect for anyone with gymnastic abilities anyway but to do gymnastics in that bodysuit and those boots…well done Keta, you gave it girl.
Jonbers Blonde was serving us a fashion runway lip sync and she was brilliant, everyone’s favourite pigeon was icing her Beyoncé dream with the wig blowing in the fan moment, and her brief Irish jig moment was what we all love from our Irish Queen.
Tia Kofi also chose to sing live and my only criticism is that she needed to be more confident in herself, I felt like she second guessed herself and was a little small with her performance which is a shame because her voice is good and the song was quite moving with a good message.
Opening the actual talent show but closing out my sum is is my Anglo-Spanish sweetheart Choriza May and she set the stage on fire with her musical invitation to El Inferno. Truthfully I want a first class ticket to wherever Choriza goes because I absolutely adore this woman and her sizzling Spanish talents. She gave us music, lyrics, outfit, staging and body and she slayed it. I will be spending my time in El Inferno for the foreseeable future because that earworm track is stuck in head and I’m not mad at all.
The runway looks were in celebration of For Queen and Country and these queens served it all for their country each Queen looked fierce and fabulous from in your face obvious representations of their heritage to outfits with a little more story buried within them, each look was stunning and each Queen did their country proud.
One of my favourites moments was watching La Grande Dame and Marina walk out hand in hand to lip sync because the height difference was adorably hilarious and I did agree with Mama Ru when she named Marina the winner.
Marina didn’t have an easy choice picking someone to send home first and I was honestly shocked that she chose Mayhem. Although I was happy to keep a UK queen and have Gothy Kendoll saved I was pretty sad to not be able to see more of Mayhem.
Overall, an amazing start to series 2 and I cannot wait for the rest of the competition.
